I was out of work for 3 years and had bills piling up so some of them had to go past due (except for my mortgage-I always paid it on time) So, within two years I’ve been paying my bills on time and I have low credit card debt. My fico score is a average of 600 and I want it at minimum at 690. I have 30, 60, 90 days past due on my credit report with one collection which I paid and one judgement. Is there any way I can fix these problems in the next 9 months. I’m trying to refinance my home. thank you for any help.
Applying for mortgage, I have very bad credit, boyfriend has good credit?

My boyfriend and I are starting the process of buying our first home. I have a bad credit score (although I have cleaned up most of my debt, the damage I did a few years ago in college still reflects poorly on my score) but my boyfriend has a very good credit score. Since we both want to be on the mortgage and want to be joint buyers of the home, both of our credits are going to be run and I’m extremely nervous that my poor credit score is going to ruin our oppurtunity to buy our first home. We both have been at our jobs for a long time (me 3 years and him over 5 years) and have steady income however. Our combined income is about 80,000.
I guess I just would like some advice from some people who have been in similar situations to mine or some mortgage professionals. Will my poor credit and his good credit balance out? I’m very paranoid about this. Thanks.
I didn’t ask for advice about what to do if we split up. We are getting engaged soon and plan on being married within the next 2 years.
